Dare to Hope Events

Light of Hope – A Dare to Hope Initiative

This November 20th, on World Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day, Dare to Hope will host the inaugural Light of Hope vigil — a series of sunset gatherings taking place in communities across Australia. As landmarks around the world glow purple in solidarity, we will come together for a beautiful and powerful evening of remembrance, reflection, and connection.

Our Melbourne vigil will be held on the beach at Mentone Life Saving Club from 6.30pm, where the community will gather by the water as the sun sets, united in hope and remembrance.

Light of Hope is dedicated to honouring every life touched by pancreatic cancer — remembering those we have lost, standing with those currently facing the disease, and surrounding families and friends with love and support.

Pancreatic cancer is the most common cancer with the deadliest outcomes. In Australia, it takes more than 10 lives every day, with an average survival time of just seven months from diagnosis.

At Dare to Hope, we believe that when we gather as a community, we create something powerful. Together, we can find comfort in connection, courage in one another, and strength in unity. From this comes Hope — hope for greater awareness, hope for better treatments, and hope for a future where outcomes are transformed.

We warmly invite people across Australia to host their own Vigil of Hope in their community. Dare to Hope will provide an event plan and everything you need to make your gathering meaningful.
