Why Fundraise for Dare to Hope
We can't do this alone. What began with The Dear family's determination to find hope during their darkest time has grown into a movement shaped by everyday people — finding connection, purpose, and strength in a shared cause.
While our main fundraiser remains the Dare to Hope match at the MCG each Easter Monday, we’re increasingly seeing people step up within their own communities in meaningful and personal ways. This collective effort means we can achieve more. More funding to drive more research, which is the only way we can change outcomes for those impacted by pancreatic cancer.
Dare to Hope is driven by volunteers. Low overheads, pro-bono and low - bono support means the maximum amount from every dollar you raise goes directly to fund medical research.
Ideas & Inspiration
Your fundraiser can be as big or as small as you like — the important thing is that it’s meaningful to you and resonates with your support network.
- Take on a Challenge — walk, run, cycle, swim… choose your own distance or goal.
- Auction something Special –Organise your own annual event in honour of someone special
- Hold a Tribute Event — share your loved one’s story and invite guests to donate in their honour. You can do this by adding your loved one to our Virtual Bay of Hope
- Host a Morning Tea — gather friends, share stories, and raise funds over a cuppa
- Celebrate a Milestone — birthdays, anniversaries, weddings… ask for donations in place of gifts
- Create & Sell — bake, craft, paint, or make something special to sell for donations
Virtual Bay of Hope
Our Virtual Bay of Hope is a powerful way to fundraise in honour of someone special diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Create a personalised page to share their story, celebrate milestones, and invite friends and family to support your fundraiser and tribute through donations to their page.
By fundraising in their name, you are not only honouring their life — you are helping drive vital research that brings hope to others facing this disease.
